Please make sure that the 505 serial cable should NEVER be connected
anywhere to the base of the telescope.
Please make sure the telescope and computer are both powered OFF before
you make the connection.
1) Connect the serial interface adapter (DB-9) as D in illustration to
the RS–232 port on a PC. The PC could be a desktop or a portable
computer.
2) Connect the 6-pin end of the flat cable, larger phone jack end to
the serial interface adapter.
3) Connect the 4-pin end of the flat cable, smaller phone jack end at
the base of the Autostar..
4) Connect the Autostar coil cord between the HBX port, A, on the telescope
computer control panel and the coil cord connector port on Autostar.
Apply power to the telescope and computer, then complete basic Autostar
initialization as detailed in the Autostar instruction manual.
Note: Connection to the telescope is not required for updating the Autostar.
